Enema kits
When I first started
doing coffee enemas, I was looking in internet (as you are probably doing now)
to know how it work, benefits, risks etc…
Since I’m a shy person
and I would never go to a store or a pharmacy to buy enema supplies, I decided
to look up online and guess what?! Although it’s true that the coffee enema
equipment is limited and pretty straightforward, there is not much out there in
the web being reviewed.
So what I did was to buy
few different products and review them.
Here is my personal list
of Enema Kits:
- Stainless
Steel Enema Kit with PVC Tubing: 2 Quart Container. No Latex: When I
became interested in doing coffee enemas, I asked around to see what
people were using for the enema kits. Alot of people were using disposable
plastic enema bags you can get at Rite Aid or Save-On, etc. The thought of
all that plastic going in the landfill didn't sit right with me. Also, the
point of the enema is to detox, so why would I put the organic coffee in a
PLASTIC bag? I searched amazon and found this kit. I liked that
it was stainless steel and some of the replacement parts are also
available on amazon. I've used it about 6-8 times over the last couple
months and here are my thoughts: the stainless steel can is nice because
it is sterile, but not so nice because you cannot see the level of the
liquid and because a good portion of your liquid goes to waste because it
falls below the hole that allows it to flow into the tube. If you want to
salvage all the liquid, you have to reach and take the can with one hand
and hold it up and tip it to the side of the hole.
- BEST Coffee Enema Kit - "The Try it Now" - Gerson Approved - Includes 1/2 lb Bag Green Organic Coffee Ground - Transparent Re-Usable Bucket w/Reinforced Handles: inexpensive way to try before committing to a more expensive version. Having said that, nothing has broken after about 13 uses. I recommend moving the clamp to different positions and leaving it off when not in use. Eventually the plastic tubing at the clamp point might get worn. The bucket handles are flimsy but I've had zero problems with them. Bucket and tubing cleans really well using pure rubbing alcohol. I also like that it comes with coffee.
- The Perfect Enema Bag Kit in Blue Color for Colon
Cleansing With Silicone Hose: First off I will say there is a rubbery
smell to it, but wash it with soap and hot water and that smell subsides
considerably. The attachments that it comes with are quite nice. The hose
has a good feel and the tips are very comfortable. I will say that the
open top is annoying in its own right but if you hang it up where you want
it to be empty and then fill it, it isn’t a problem.
- Enema Bag sets: Very disappointed in these bags. The
top part that hangs is very cheaply made. Not high quality like the kind I
used to buy in medical supply stores. The weight of the water in the bag
tears the cheap little 2- hole hanging area at the top!

The Gerson Therapy
"The Gerson Therapy is a natural
treatment that activates the body’s extraordinary ability to heal itself
through an organic, plant-based diet, raw juices, coffee enemas and natural
supplements".
Dr. Max Gerson used this clinically as part of a general
detoxification regimen, first for tuberculosis, then cancer. Caffeine, he
postulated, will travel up the hemorrhoidal to the portal vein and thence to
the liver itself. Gerson noted some remarkable effects of this procedure. For
instance, patients could dispense with all pain-killers once on the enemas.
Many people have noted the paradoxical calming effect of coffee enemas.
And while coffee enemas can relieve constipation, Gerson cautioned: "Patients have to know that the coffee enemas are not given for the function of the intestines but for the stimulation of the liver."
Coffee enemas were an established part of medical practice when Dr. Max Gerson introduced them into cancer therapy in the 1930s.
Coffee enemas were an established part of medical practice when Dr. Max Gerson introduced them into cancer therapy in the 1930s. Basing himself on German laboratory work, Gerson believed that caffeine could stimulate the liver and gall bladder to discharge bile. He felt this process could contribute to the health of the cancer patient.
One of the most important components of the Gerson Therapy is coffee enemas. Coffee enemas are the primary method of detoxification of the tissues and blood on the Gerson Therapy. Cancer patients on the Gerson Therapy may take up to 5 coffee enemas per day.
Coffee enemas accomplish the essential task of assisting the liver in eliminating toxic residues from the body for good. The Gerson Therapy also utilizes castor oil to stimulate bile flow and enhance the liver’s ability to filter blood.
How to properly do a coffee enema
First off you will need to purchase an enema kit, you can buy a traveller's kit here or something a bit more robust such as the plastic bucket type kits (like this). You can traveller's kit as its easy to store and discreet for travelling or if you plan on doing more than one enema a day (if you wanna bring it at work for eg.). You can order these kits online here.
The next step is to buy some good quality coffee for enemas. Coffee bags come in different size and quality. If you are new to coffee enemas, you should try different brands in small size bags. I usually buy the 5lb since I do enemas regularly and so I can save a bit of money. I personally use this one or this one because they are ORGANIC, and you shouldn't really wanna put processed or chemically altered coffee in your body.
Grab a saucepan and put 2 tablespoons of organic coffee in the saucepan. Add 3 cups of FILTERED (even better if you let the water sit over night so that the chlorine will dissipate into the environment) water to the pot.
Bring to the boil and let simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat after 15 minutes and let it cool. When it's body temperature (you can test this by placing a clean finger into the coffee, it will be neither hot or cold) strain through a nut milk bag into a clean glass pouring jar.
Head to the bathroom with your strained coffee and set up a space and something comfortable for you to lie down on. Hint: Be near a toilet and use an old towel as you sometimes may get slight coffee leakage. Grab a pillow and some reading material as you will be here for approximately 12 to 15 minutes.
Now assemble your
enema kit. It must have a tube and nozzle attached to the bucket or bag. Make
sure it's at least 3/4 feet above ground. (Hanging on a towel rail or shower
rail is a good idea, and if it's too high you can use a cloth hanger to bring
the bag or the bucket down).
There will an attachment near the nozzle that allows you to stop or start the flow of coffee once you have poured it into the bag or bucket. Ensure this is in the off position before pouring the coffee into the bag!
Once the coffee is in the bag or bucket hold tube and nozzle over sink or shower plug and turn it on and allow the coffee to run through the tube until there are no air bubbles. Stop the flow again once this is done.
Grab some coconut oil (you can buy it here) or Surgilube (you can buy it here) and apply to the nozzle for ease of insertion. Lie down on your towel on your right hand side with your knees drawn up.
Insert the nozzle
till it's about 1 inch inside the rectum. Turn on the flow of coffee slowly
until the bag or bucket is emptied.
Now you can either
remain lying on your right side or lie on your back with your feet up above
head level or feet resting against a wall above head level. You may hear some
funny squirting noises from your tummy, this is a good sign and an indication
of the bile being stimulated for release.
Try
to retain the enema for 12 to 15 minutes. You may feel some strong urges to go
to the toilet, especially the first few times you try this. Try to hold on for
as long as you can, quite often the sensations pass. As you do them more
regularly you will be able to retain for longer. 15 minutes max is all you
need.
When
you are ready to release head to the toilet and let it go.
You
should feel a lot lighter in body and mind by now!
To
keep your enema kit in tip-top shape clean with a mild detergent and ensure
everything is dry before packing away.
Coffee
enemas are very safe and are sometimes taken up to 6 times a day in chronically
ill patients.
Coffee enema benefits
Enemas have been an old method of treatment and we can find records of them since 1500 BC. In fact they were mentioned in Egyptian’s medical.
